While I would still recommend a backup of your library, once they release OS X 10.10.3 which contains "Photos" you can actually store your library in the cloud where it's very unlikely it'll ever get lost. I'm going to hold off for now, though, because until you back it up and such playing around in there could damage your photo library.Īside #2: Apple is about to release the "Photos" app, a replacement for iPhoto. If you have trouble getting iPhoto back on your machine, PM me and I can send you some walkthrough about it. If you have an external drive I would highly recommend copying that entire "iPhoto Library" file to a external since it contains pictures of such important memories!Īside, that file is really a folder and you can actually browse the images in there.
Apple though should give a warning about that. Once iPhoto installed, it brought in the old photos. *These photos document the time my son was born up until now (21 months later). Have I lost all of my photos, or will they show up once the new iPhoto is installed? There is a folder that says "iPhoto Recovered Photos," and there are three old uploaded movies of mine with three screenshots from them. What's further worrying me is that the thousands of photos I had are no where to be found. More important is the question about where the old photos are. How long does it take to install?ĮDIT - I found where it is installing and still has 500 GB left, so that's reassuring. I entered my AppleID and PW in the APP store and it is stuck on "Installing" and has been for 45 minutes.
I went to upload a movie to iPhoto and realized it wasn't available.
I upgraded to Yosemite because TurboTax needed an updated OS. This subreddit is not endorsed or sponsored by Apple Inc. If you'd like to view their content together, click here.
